VICE CHANCELLOR

About the Role
Reporting to the University Governing Council, the Vice Chancellor will serve as the institution’s strategic anchor responsible for driving long-term direction, ensuring growth, operational excellence, and fostering a culture of integrity, innovation, and high performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing strategic leadership aligned with the University’s vision, mission, and core values.
- Strengthening academic quality, research, innovation, and student outcomes.
- Enhancing industry-driven programs and employability initiatives.
- Ensuring financial sustainability and effective resource utilization.
- Leading human resource development and performance management.
- Promoting a student-centered culture.
- Driving organizational transformation and digital capability.
Further, the applicant must have:
- Demonstrated strategic leadership with successful outcomes.
- Proven leadership in research, innovation, and academic governance.
- Strong academic and research record with international publications.
- Experience in resource mobilization and institutional development.
- Ability to fundraise and attract research grants.
Qualifications
- Earned PhD from a recognized University (Professor rank an added advantage).
- At least 10 years senior academic and administrative experience.
- Experience as a Deputy Vice-Chancellor or equivalent is an added advantage.
Additionally, the applicant must have:
- Track record of institutional transformation.
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to good governance.
- High moral character and integrity per Constitution of Kenya (2010).
- Commitment to quality, innovation, and student success.

NOTES:
The position of Vice Chancellor is a 5-year contract eligible for renewal once based on satisfactory performance. The position carries a competitive remuneration package. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
